Fatal Vicksburg shooting death of Hakeem Samall Burnett – Obituary
In the early hours of May 1, 2024, Vicksburg Police Department officers were dispatched to the intersection of Grove Street and Hayes Street following reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found 34-year-old Hakeem Samall Burnett lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel transported Burnett to Merit Health River Region, where he later died from his injuries.
Authorities arrested Rheuvonia Ramekia Buck in connection with the incident. She faces a murder charge and is awaiting her initial court appearance. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute.
