Joshua Daywalt dies in fatal Schuylkill River shooting

Fatal Schuylkill River shooting death of Joshua Daywalt – Obituary.

The body of 35-year-old Joshua Daywalt, also known as Michael Hall, was discovered in the Schuylkill River on February 7, near Kelly Drive and Midvale Avenue.

The Phoenixville man was found by a passerby, and authorities confirmed he had been shot.

Despite ongoing investigations, there are no suspects or weapons recovered so far.

Joshua struggled with schizophrenia for much of his life, with his mother, Jennifer Daywalt, sharing how difficult it had been to secure proper care for him. Jennifer now advocates for better mental health services and family involvement in care, highlighting the gaps in the system that left her son vulnerable.

She is urging for legislative changes and a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by individuals living with mental illness. Jennifer hopes that the efforts to uncover the truth about her son’s death will also bring attention to the needs of the mentally ill, pressing for greater support and reforms. A reward of $20,000 is being offered for information that could lead to the resolution of Joshua’s death. Anyone with details is asked to contact the Philadelphia Police Department at 215-686-3334 or leave an anonymous tip at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
