Fatal Queens attack death of Juliet Kashidas-Singh – Obituary
A 64-year-old woman was killed on Thursday and left on the landing outside her Ozone Park residence, reportedly following a dispute over unpaid wages.
Juliet Kashidas-Singh was discovered lifeless just before 5:30 p.m. in front of her home on 103rd Avenue. When officers arrived, they found her unresponsive, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy confirmed that she had suffered blunt force trauma to her head, neck, and torso, with injuries consistent with both strangulation and a beating. Her death was officially classified as a homicide.
Authorities have arrested 40-year-old Francisco Sevilla, charging him with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Investigators believe the altercation stemmed from a disagreement over $300, which Sevilla allegedly believed he was owed for work he had done in Kashidas-Singh’s construction business.
“It’s a straightforward dispute over back pay,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said. “Fortunately, the suspect left his wallet at the scene, which allowed us to quickly identify him.”
Sevilla, who had a prior arrest from 2006, told officers he was intoxicated and did not recall the events leading up to the incident. Police found him standing nearby with blood on his hands.
Residents of the neighborhood were shocked by the tragic event.
“I just know she was a very nice lady,” said neighbor Monica Meneses. “She and the other women on our block would always get together, go for walks, and do errands. It’s just heartbreaking.”
