Fatal Tacoma elevator shooting death of Messiah Washington – Obituary

Messiah Washington, an 18-year-old from Tacoma, was shot and killed inside an elevator at an affordable housing complex in the city’s Hilltop neighborhood on Saturday night.

According to Tacoma Police, officers responded to the 1100 block of South L Street around 9 p.m. after multiple 911 calls reported gunfire. Washington was found inside the elevator, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, he did not survive.

A community meeting was held in response to the tragedy, and Messiah’s family has launched an online fundraiser to seek support. The investigation remains ongoing.
