Fatal Aiken County shooting death of William Lee Mathis Jr. – Obituary

William Lee Mathis Jr., 30, was fatally shot on September 18 in Aiken County, South Carolina. Authorities were called to the intersection of Columbia Avenue and Chesterfield Street for a health and safety check, where they found Mathis unconscious with at least one gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital but later passed away.

The Aiken Department of Public Safety has identified Sabastyen Miles Greene, 22, as the suspect in the case. Greene is wanted for murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Investigators believe Greene attempted to rob Mathis, leading to a confrontation in which Mathis was shot in the chest. Authorities are asking anyone with information on Greene’s whereabouts to come forward.
