Bluefield State University Celebrates Installation of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority Chapter
BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Bluefield State University proudly celebrated the official installation of the Iota Mu Chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority on Saturday, April 12, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the university’s expanding student life offerings.
After fulfilling all requirements as an Emerging Chapter, Alpha Sigma Alpha at Bluefield State became a fully active chapter of the national sorority. The all-day celebration, held at the university’s Student Center, welcomed 10 charter members and one alumna into the sisterhood during a meaningful and traditional initiation ceremony.
The day began with a Sisterhood Breakfast, where new members connected with university officials, faculty, and fellow student organization members. The highlight was the installation ceremony, which officially recognized the chapter’s establishment. The festivities concluded with an installation banquet, where attendees gathered to honor the new chapter and its members.
Adding a philanthropic touch to the celebration, the Iota Mu Chapter also participated in a community service project, showcasing Alpha Sigma Alpha’s longstanding commitment to giving back and serving others.
“This new chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha brings incredible energy and opportunity to our campus,” said BSU President Darrin Martin. “We’re proud of the leadership these students have already shown and excited for the impact they’ll continue to make.”
Alpha Sigma Alpha was founded in 1901, at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. With over 150 active chapters nationwide, the sorority is a member of the National Panhellenic Conference, the umbrella organization for 26 international women’s fraternities and sororities. The Iota Mu Chapter at Bluefield State joins a strong network of sisterhood, with nearby chapters at Concord University, Radford University, and Roanoke College.
