Fatal Silver Spring shooting death of Jonah Mutua – Obituary
Authorities in Montgomery County are investigating the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Jonah Kimindo Mutua, who was killed in broad daylight on March 8, 2025.
Officers responded to the 2700 block of Fairdale Terrace around 11 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. They arrived to find Mutua suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot of an apartment complex. Despite efforts by a good Samaritan, first responders, and medics to save his life, Mutua was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later confirmed that Mutua’s death was a homicide. Montgomery County Police are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the shooter and are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest.
