Fatal Claremore shooting death of Travis Casey – Obituary
Travis Casey was shot and killed on Thursday evening near South 4180 Road and East 390 Road in Claremore, Oklahoma. Authorities arrived at the scene just before 5 p.m. and found Casey suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the location.
Deputies detained 43-year-old Mario Greene at the scene. According to investigators, Greene had ammunition matching the bullets used in the shooting. Witnesses reported that Greene approached Casey and a group of people as they were entering a travel trailer. He was seen with a hand behind his back, appearing upset.
An argument escalated, leading to multiple gunshots. When others exited the trailer, they discovered Casey wounded and Greene still holding a firearm. Witnesses stated that Greene pointed the gun at them as they tried to assist Casey.
Greene later told investigators that he carried the gun for protection due to a dispute with Casey over a stolen vehicle. He admitted to breaking into his father’s house to take the handgun used in the shooting but claimed he did not intend to kill Casey.
Greene, a convicted felon, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm after a felony conviction, and pointing a deadly weapon. He is currently being held without bond as the investigation continues.
