Brennan Martin Mendoza, a 16-year-old from Lodi, tragically passed away in a car crash on the night of Sunday, February 23, 2025.

The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 104 and Alta Mesa Road. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity, noting the earlier report had mistakenly listed him as 17.

In the crash, Mendoza was the driver, and two other individuals were involved. Mendoza was found unconscious with severe injuries, while a passenger sustained a minor injury, according to the California Highway Patrol. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, with authorities yet to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role.

Mendoza, who was a student at Lodi High School, was days away from celebrating his 17th birthday, which would have been on March 5. His family has since created a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses and support them through this difficult time.
