Devin Andrew Fischer, a 34-year-old Minneapolis resident and father, tragically passed away following a stabbing incident on Nicollet Mall on December 23.
Authorities reported that Fischer was found bleeding from a neck wound near a bus shelter shortly before midnight. He was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday. Fischer’s family described him as a kind and loving person, with his aunt, Kelly Huehn, emphasizing his warmth and role as a devoted father.
The suspect, Joseph Davis, 58, was arrested at the scene and charged with first-degree assault. Investigators are reviewing evidence and surveillance footage that shows the altercation leading to the stabbing. According to Davis, the incident began when he intervened after Fischer allegedly approached a woman aggressively. Davis claims he acted in self-defense, but authorities are continuing to investigate.
