Fatal Austin shooting death of Erik Tijerina – Obituary
Erik Tijerina, 45, has been identified as the man killed in a shooting in southeast Austin on December 13, 2024.
Police responded to reports of gunfire near Thrasher Lane, close to Montopolis Drive and U.S. 183, at around 2 a.m. Officers found Tijerina unresponsive in the front yard of a home, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries on December 15.
Investigators believe that multiple shooters exchanged gunfire in the area, with Tijerina being struck during the incident. It is unclear whether he was involved in the shootout or was an innocent bystander. This marks Austin’s 69th homicide of the year.
The Austin Police Department is continuing its investigation into the case.
